The Pyrowave pilot plant is a green chemical process R&D global centre of excellence located in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. This young firm is a pioneer in microwave chemical recycling to regenerate post-consumer and post-industrial plastics into new plastics, restoring the full value of these resources. Its patented high-power microwave catalytic depolymerization technology platform is the most advanced in the world and is now at the forefront of the new generation of plastics. By bringing plastics back to their molecular state identical to virgin materials, Pyrowave technology allows infinite recycling of plastics and provides a circular economy solution to the global plastics recycling challenge.

Under the supervision of the Vice President of Products, the Mechanical Engineer is responsible for performing design tasks and supporting activities related to the development of new commercial depolymerization reactor platforms and associated modules. 

Specifically, the Mechanical Engineer will:

1. Design parts and assemblies for new business units or pilot units (mechanical and hydraulic parts) and associated work instructions.

2. Prepare analysis and technical studies for new engineering projects, as well as detailed plans and specifications (engineering reports, test procedures, maintenance procedures, operations manual, etc.)

3. Support the design of processes and units associated with the commercial platforms or the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield pilot plant.

4. Participate in the preparation of service offers, as well as in the selection of suppliers in conjunction with his department.

5. Participate in the monitoring of the manufacturing of new business units, as well as the preparation and application of performance evaluation procedures by implementing a quality control and cost optimization plan for the supply chain.

6. Coordinate the work and activities for which the Mechanical Engineer is responsible.

7. Actively contribute to identifying opportunities for improvement or optimization on the various projects in which he/she participates.

* The successful candidate will work in the Montreal office and will be required to travel approximately 25% of the time to the pilot plant in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield or to suppliers as needed.

1. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

2. OIQ membership.

3. 5+ years of experience as a mechanical engineer in new product development and/or modular process manufacturing.

4. Experience in research and development (asset).

5. Knowledge of CAD tools (technical drawings and 3D models).

6. Have an excellent knowledge of oral and written French.

7. Have a good knowledge of oral and written English.
