Montréal, Februay 4¸ 2019 — Pyrowave is proud to join Éco Entreprises Québec’s (ÉEQ) delegation at the First International Québec-France Forum on innovations in plastic packaging recycling solutions, which will be held in Paris on February 4 and 5. Pyrowave shares in the ambition to facilitate and implement winning conditions for the deployment of innovative technologies for the recycling of plastic packaging.

Presented jointly by ÉEQ and Citeo, this Forum, titled “Plastic Solutions: Innovations in recycling on both sides of the Atlantic”, will welcome over 300 participants from Canada and Europe. In direct alignment with the goals set forth in the Ocean Plastics Charter signed by G7 nations, the Forum offers an innovative collaborative approach that brings together manufacturers, corporations, recyclers and investors in order to effect true change in the search for solutions.

“We are thrilled to present our polystyrene microwave recycling technology to the 300 investors, brand owners, elected officials and plastic recycling supply chain representatives gathered today to discuss new avenues to tackle the number one global issue of our century”, says Jocelyn Doucet, Pyrowave CEO. The Pyrowave technology is at commercial stage and the Forum offers a great opportunity to develop new partnerships with many key industry stakeholders. It is with the collaboration of the whole value chain that we will make it happen”, concludes Mr. Doucet.

“On this rare occasion, all parties involved in the plastics chain will come together. We are convinced that such an important mobilization targeting a world-wide issue will help introduce innovative solutions. Moreover, the companies, whom we represent and who use and market these plastic packaging products, are also part of that solution”, said Maryse Vermette, ÉEQ President and CEO.

Establishing relations between ambitious participants and innovative projects

The Forum’s program will enable participants to meet individually with 13 cutting-edge start-ups in the area of plastics recycling: Pyrowave (Canada), APK (Germany), Carbios (France), Demeto (Italy/Switzerland), Fraunhofer IVV (Germany), Garbo (Italy), IFP Énergies nouvelles (France), Ioniqa Technologies (Netherlands), JEPLAN (Japan), Loop Industries (Canada), Polystyvert (Canada), PureCycle Technologies (United States of America), and Recycling Technologies (United Kingdom). Additionally, many networking opportunities will be available in order to facilitate knowledge and experience sharing between participants.

Accelerating innovation in the area of plastics recycling

G7 countries have set the ambitious goal of recycling 100% of all plastics by 2040. There are over 150 million tonnes of plastic residue in the planet’s oceans, making plastics recycling a truly urgent world matter. Innovative recycling technologies, in conjunction with existing methods, will enable us to reach those goals.
